Beeswax
The structure. Natural emulsifier, breathable barrier, faint honey scent.
Beeswax is a natural wax produced by honeybees. It gives Sunnbalm its firm-in-the-tin, melt-on-skin structure — a natural emulsifier that holds the lipids together without synthetic stabilisers, hardeners, or thickeners.
Unlike occlusive petroleum-based ingredients, the layer beeswax leaves on skin is breathable. Moisture can still exchange with the air, which matters for healthy skin function over a long day of wear.
It carries trace vitamin A and has mild antibacterial properties — both well-documented in folk skincare for centuries and re-confirmed by more recent topical-application research.
We source from US apiaries that don't dye, bleach, or chemically treat the wax. The faint honey scent in the balm is the real thing, not added fragrance.
